Goal Countdown... Ho Ho Ho!

Our Operator challenged me to create a "goal thermometer" for our year end target.  I couldn't bring myself to make a boring candy thermometer chart, so I thought of this.  Each stocking was a 10% marker.  The last stocking was laminated so the exact percentage could be written/then erased.  Good news!  We made our goal!

Started with this Christmas school kit
Used the fireplace and the stockings

BFF's

When I saw Dustin Pike released this adorable Freebie Friday image, I instantly had a smile on my face.  This image is sooooo my youngest daughter and her BFF!  If you put them in a line up of young girls, you would never pair these two together.  But whatever works!  BFF's are hard to come by!

It's hard to read the small print on the circle.  It sums up friendships... here's what it says:
"Ingredients: adventure, giggles, kisses, wonder, energy, adventure, motion, joy, happiness, love, glee, and a whole lot of trial and error!"

You're Tweet! Thanks! Operation Write Home Blog Hop

You're Tweet!  Thanks so much!

Hello!  You're tweet! Thanks for hopping by this weekend for the
Operation Write Home
Memorial Weekend Blog Hop.

Today while at the airport, I witnessed a total stranger walk up to a man in uniform and thank him for his service to our country.  I felt privileged to have seen the touching exchange.  I love those who serve in the military.  My grandfather served in World War 2, my brother served (also in Deseret Storm) and retired from the Army, and my sister served in the Air Force.  So I have a soft spot for our service men and women.

Everyone has their own way of supporting and thanking those who serve our great country.  I think Operation Write Home's program is an amazing way to thank AND help lift the spirits of those who serve and their families with the creative cards that are lovingly made.   Here's link to Operation Write Home's Memorial Weekend Blog Hop to see all the talented people, click HERE to see all the  cards!

I tweaked/flipped the sketch just a little.  :)

Dustin Pike aka Doodle Dragon Studios is also playing in the Operation Write Home Blog Hop.  So if you like the cute birdie on this card (from the DDS Woodland Set) or the other awesome images on my blog, be sure to go visit the great and talented Doodle Dragon Studios. Rumor is Dustin will be having FREEBIES this weekend and a special sale!  You don't want to miss it!

Have a happy & safe Memorial Day Weekend!  Thanks for hopping by!

Final Ongoing Fundraising Race of the Year

It's the Final Ongoing Fundraising Race of the year and my career at our school!  I liked everything about this bulletin board except the post sign with the rules.  But I had to make them big enough for the students to read.  Also, we design our bulletin boards so things can be removed (the post sign) and pictures of the event are put in it's place.  So tomorrow after the big Pizza Party with Stacking Cups races there will be some fun pictures displayed.  I can't wait!

This was a speedy race... only 2 weeks long.  Each class tried to earn the most points by turning in their Ongoing Fundraising items (Box Tops, Campbell's Labels for Education, My Coke Rewards caps and flaps, recycling ink and cell phones) and attending our Chick-fil-A Spirit Night.  In addition, one student from each grade who turned in the most Box Tops received a set of Stacking Speed Cups with an instructional DVD.  The kids LOVE these!

Teachers who earned over 5,000 Race points were awarded a Race Bundle of prizes (tissues, pencils, dry eraser markers and dry erase erasers plus free Chick-fil-A sandwiches).

The winning teacher was awarded a big Pit Stop Prize Box full of classroom supplies and a pizza coupon card.

Teacher Appreciation Week - Door #5

I think my favorite door to decorate is the Librarian's door.  It's more than just a door, it's a scene!

Well, we made our way through all five doors I created.  Since I'm also the PTA Teacher Appreciation Door Coordinator, I take picture of ALL the doors we decorate every year (55+ doors).  You can take an electronic stroll around our school's Teacher Appreciation Week doors HERE.  You will to see how the halls of our school were magically transformed by creative parents in love and appreciation.

Teacher Appreciation Week - Door #4

Here we are at Door #4.  Apparently, the monkeys are in control this year!  This door is for an aide who manages the teacher's workroom and makes all the copies for the teachers.  I'm in here alot making copies for PTA, so I get to talk to Dawn often.  Since I won't be here next year, I had to do her door too!

Teacher Appreciation Week - Door #2

Welcome back!  Here is my Door #2 for Teacher Appreciation Week.  Yes, I strayed from the UP theme, but this teacher LOVES, LOVES, LOVES soccer.  I purchased a decorative beach net from the Dollar Store to make the goal.  The strings are hot glued together on the edges to make the goal frame.  It worked out perfect!  And I used the trick (that I finally figured out in January!) of enlarging my Martha Stewart Grass edge punch to make the grass.

Teacher Appreciation Week - Door #1

I can't believe it is Teacher Appreciation Week already!  And that we only have 18 days of school left.  This year has flown by!  Our school's PTA theme this year was "Rising UP to Excellence!"  For TA Week, the committee played off the theme with anything "UP".  Here's my door I made for the School Nurse.  *Gasp!*  It's not a Doodle Dragon image!  I think it's the first door ever not using one of Dustin's images.

I decorated 5 doors this year.  I'll post 1 a day for this week.  So now you've seen Door #1.  Come back tomorrow to see Door #2.

Supplies:
Butcher paper
Crepe paper
Mummy cut out (I purchased this on Halloween clearance)

Somebunny Love Box Tops!

Ah man, it's getting close!  Only 2 more months of school left!  And my second to last bulletin board at this school.  After 13 years of having children here, my youngest child will graduate to junior high this year.  Sniff. Sniff.  And after 8 years of being the PTA Ongoing Fundraising Coordinator (which includes being the Box Tops Lady) it's coming to an end too.  Sniff.  Sniff.  It's the BEST position and most fun position on the PTA Board!

Thanks to Dustin Pike aka Doodle Dragon Studios for the most amazing images to work with over the years!  My bulletin boards, poster and flyers always look so great!

For this bulletin board, I used my wide format printer and 12"x24" cardstock to make the bunny (isn't he adorable!?) and wagon.  I printed sections at a time then paper pieced them together.  The background is wrapping papers.

I have to brag a little bit about our school.  The students, families and faculty are super supportive of all our Ongoing Fundraising programs, Box Tops being our top program.  This year we rocked it again!  We earned $5,491.41 just from Box Tops!

In the Box Tops World, our school is currently ranked:
#6 in our Area - within 25 miles (out of 400 schools)
#8 in the State (out of 773 schools)
#214 in the Nation (out of 88,911 schools)

Somebunny LOVES Box Tops!  It must be Eaglecrest Elementary families!   EGG-cellent job Eaglecrest!  For our next Somebunny LOVES Box Tops contest, the students will trade in their completed Box Tops collection sheets for a plastic egg filled with a treat, a prize or an extra ticket in our drawing for bigger prizes!

Keep Calm

Meh... today is one of those I have a million things to do days, but really not interested or motivated to do any of them.  So I started looking through all my Doodle Dragon Studios images.  I found this cutie in my treasures and starting playing with him.

Now it's time for dinner.  Yeah, I not real motivated for that either.  Any ideas?  Order out, you say?  Perfect!

Scrapbook USA Expo Time

Guess what is this weekend?  It's the Scrapbook USA Expo in Sandy, Utah.  One of my favorite events of the year!  If you're coming to the Expo, be sure to come say hello!  I'll be working in the VIP Lounge Area both mornings as the hostess.  It's the best job (and the most fun) of the Expo!  Hope to see you there!

Click here for more details about the Scrapbook USA Expo.

Guess what else is just around the corner?  My next favorite time of the year... Teacher Appreciation Doors!  Look for them in May.  I've already signed up for 3 doors.  So excited!

Seeing Colors (pastels that is) Challenge!

Okay, I totally cheated for the new Doodle Dragon Studios Seeing Colors (pastels that is) challenge!  Nothing says pastel more than Easter candy, which is a true weakness of mine!  Once the bag is open just know that it will be empty soon.  I've eaten enough Easter candy already, so I opted in posting this cute Easter treat I made in 2011.  Here's what I said...

There's just something about Easter M&M's that makes me want to buy bag after bag. The colors are so playful, light and happy. Think about it...brown colored M&M's don't make you smile like Easter colors do.

I found this fun container at IKEA (one of my favorite stores, except when I get lost and can't find out how do get down stairs). I printed the bunny on regular cardstock and the "Happy Easter" on a transparency paper. I glued the bunny on the transparency. Then put the paper in from back side so the bunny is sandwiched in between the original top and the transparency.

Now it's your turn to think pastels!  Link your project over on Dustin Pike's Doodle Dragon Studio's blog by Sunday, March 17!

Supplies:

Canister - from IKEA (3 pack)

Oh Boy! It's a Challenge!

I decided to put a little twist on the Doodle Dragon Studios - Pike's Playground challenge (snips and snails and puppy dog tails - boys challenge).  My pregnant friend only has 3 weeks until she holds her own little boy.  My son is all grown up and serving a mission in Cochabamba, Bolivia.  Sniff.  Sniff.  It's been a long pregnancy for my friend, but remember slow & steady wins the race!

Come join the challenge and have some fun with us!  Need some inspiration?  Check out the DDS design team's creations!  Be sure to link your card to the challenge by February 24th.

Red Ribbon Week

It's Red Ribbon Week at our school - The Best Me is Drug Free!  I thought this cute bear from Dustin Pike's / Doodle Dragon Studios Awareness set would be perfect to promote this important week.  You could use him for the variety of different "Ribbon" weeks by simply changing the color of his ribbon and frame.

Here's what our Red Ribbon Week coordinator has planned for our students:

Monday: Wear our school colors (blue & white) or your school spirit shirt. The teachers will pass out a red Drug-Free bracelet to each student. Please wear the bracelet every day during this week.

Tuesday: Pajama Day "Follow your dreams and be drug-free!"

Wednesday: Career/College Day: "Make it a goal to stay drug-free." Students can dress up as what they want to be when they grow up, wear a college shirt, or a sports jersey.

Thursday: Crazy Hair Day: "We may be crazy, but we don't do drugs!"

Friday: Wear Red. "The best me is drug free!" We'll be doing the balloon release between 1:30 and 2:00 (weather permitting).

Sounds like a fun week to me!

Dudley Loves Football

Only 6 more days until the Superbowl!  Let the party begin!  Dudley the Dragon is betting on the 49ners to take it this year!  In case you didn't know... he's a huge football fan.  Remember he came to my Superbowl Party?  He was even my door greeter!  Check out the party here.

I've been a 49ners fan forever.  I'll have to see if I can find a picture from the 90's in my 49ners gear to prove it!

This Dudley Football set is available again in the Doodle Dragon Studios store.  If you don't see it right away, do a search for the set up in the top right corner.

Go 49ners!

Valentine Monsters

My son is currently serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Bolivia.  He will be there for 2 years.  He's been out in the field for just over 3 months.  He loves the people!  The food?  He's adjusting... cow's tongue and stomach is NOT in our normal diet at our house.  As much as I miss him, it is wonderful to watch him grow as he serves the Lord and the people of Bolivia.

The mail system in Bolivia is far from reliable.  Either it takes letters/cards/packages forever to arrive, they never get there, or some things may be missing from the package.  Emails are the best way to communicate.  My son only has 1 hour a week to send and answer emails.  So this will be perfect for a quick "I love you" Valentine's reminder in case his Valentine's package doesn't get there in time or ever.  Please let it arrive safely!  It's filled with lots of love and treats!

Most people say, "I love you to the moon and back."  Well... some days Bolivia feels farther than the moon, so I always sign my letters, "I love you to Bolivia and back."  Mr V. Monster is on the Bolivia flag (just minus the logo in the middle) with a little shadow behind him.  He will make my son smile.

You'll smile too when you see Dustin Pike's/Doodle Dragon Studio new set of Valentine Monsters!  Check them out!  Our design team have put some love into cards showcasing these fabulous creatures!  Take a peek over on Dustin's blog.

Happy early Valentine's Day!
