Seeing Colors (pastels that is) Challenge!

Okay, I totally cheated for the new Doodle Dragon Studios Seeing Colors (pastels that is) challenge!  Nothing says pastel more than Easter candy, which is a true weakness of mine!  Once the bag is open just know that it will be empty soon.  I've eaten enough Easter candy already, so I opted in posting this cute Easter treat I made in 2011.  Here's what I said...

There's just something about Easter M&M's that makes me want to buy bag after bag. The colors are so playful, light and happy. Think about it...brown colored M&M's don't make you smile like Easter colors do.

I found this fun container at IKEA (one of my favorite stores, except when I get lost and can't find out how do get down stairs). I printed the bunny on regular cardstock and the "Happy Easter" on a transparency paper. I glued the bunny on the transparency. Then put the paper in from back side so the bunny is sandwiched in between the original top and the transparency.

Now it's your turn to think pastels!  Link your project over on Dustin Pike's Doodle Dragon Studio's blog by Sunday, March 17!

Oh Boy! It's a Challenge!

I decided to put a little twist on the Doodle Dragon Studios - Pike's Playground challenge (snips and snails and puppy dog tails - boys challenge).  My pregnant friend only has 3 weeks until she holds her own little boy.  My son is all grown up and serving a mission in Cochabamba, Bolivia.  Sniff.  Sniff.  It's been a long pregnancy for my friend, but remember slow & steady wins the race!

Come join the challenge and have some fun with us!  Need some inspiration?  Check out the DDS design team's creations!  Be sure to link your card to the challenge by February 24th.

Wintery Thank You Challenge

I have to admit this challenge wasn't much of a stretch.  I have over 9" of snow in my yard and it's been in the single digits all week with another week to go.  I feel like I'm living in Winter Wonderland!  Friday, when I drove my daughter to school it was -4.  Burrrrr.  I think it's time for a road trip (or plane trip) somewhere sunny and warm!

Cold weather is always more enjoyable with people.  So join in the fun and play in the Doodle Dragon Studios "Wintery Thank You" challenge!  Light the fire, get some hot chocolate and craft away in your fuzzy slippers. Then post your chilly project to the challenge before Sunday, January 13th.

Bundle up & stay warm!

Dreaming of White Sand

Okay, I'm cheating.  This is a project I did last Christmas, but it's one of my favorites!  So I thought I'd share it again.   I'm sooooo ready to get on a plane and go somewhere warm and fun!  Not just because of the cold and snow, but it would be amazing to take a much needed break from reality.

Wait... for the record... this for the new Doodle Dragon Studios Red & Green Challenge.  Make a project using one of Dustin's DDS images and incorporate the red and green theme.  Then post your masterpiece on to the DDS challenge by Sunday, December 9th.

To make the palm leaves, simply put the lei out flat, then fold it in half. There should be four layers. Then tie a ribbon (I used brown raffia) in the middle. Thread through your ornaments and tag. Then tie to the bottle. This is also super cute when you attach it to an A&W Rootbeer 2 liter (instead of pina colada mixer). It looks like a real palm tree.

Hope you have a Merry Christmas!

Wish We Were Here!

Are you melting yet?  This summer has been so hot.  In Utah, it's been over 100 degrees for the last week.  It's no fun to even step foot outside.  So today I was surfing around and found a vacation challenge from Just A Scrappin'.

One of our favorite vacation spots is Cancun.  We've been there enough times that now it really is a vacation.  We just eat, read, sleep, eat, read, sleep, eat, sleep - all on the beach.  Repeat for 10 days.  We definitely come home nice and rested.  This pool is above the beach, but looks like it spills into the ocean.  I'll really could go for a dip in this pool (or the ocean) this week!

The Just A Scrappin' Challenge is "Vacation Time" to make a card, layout, or 3D project of what you like to do on your vacations.  Use only the colors blue, white, green and brown.  Check. Check. Check.

Want to join the challenge?  Here's the link: Just A Scrappin' Challenge #12 - Vacation Time

I'm sending this to my mom.  She'll join me in a heart beat!

DDS Challenge... Bug Off!

Recipe card

Time for another Doodle Dragon Studios Challenge!  This week the theme is "Bug Off!"  Grab one of Dustin Pike's/Doodle Dragon Studios bug images and create something for our challenge.  Be sure to link your project to the challenge by Sunday, June 10th.  Need some inspiration?  Check out the Design Teams projects.

Above, the King of Broccoli Salad is by far one of my favorite summer recipes to bring to a picnic.  It's delicious and super simple.  Now when someone asks for the recipe, I can email them this yummy recipe card.

Here's another fun card using Dustin Pike's Bee Digi Bee Paper and Bee.  I combined it with the Subway Art from President Hinckley B's.  If you'd like to read more about the B's, click here to read his talk.

DDS Sketch Challenge Time!

This week, one of our loved Doodle Dragon Studios Design Team member (Ri) announced that she was leaving the team.  As sad as I am to see her go, I am also soooo excited for her and her next adventure in her life!

When I was young, my great grandfather never allowed us to say "Good bye" or "bye" when we left his home.  He said it sounded so final.  Instead, he always said, "See you!"  Even though he has been in heaven for years and years, his tradition has carried on.  So to you Ri, see you!  Best of luck!  Here's a BIG slobbery card with love!  I will miss you!

My second card is to celebrate FRIDAY!  May is always a crazy month for me.  So Friday's are a great break from the madness.

Here's the Doodle Dragon Studios Sketch challenge for this week.  Grab a Dustin Pike/Doodle Dragon Studio image and create a project.  Then post your creation to the challenge by Sunday, May 27th.  Have a safe and happy Memorial Weekend!  Be sure to stop by on Saturday to join in the Operation Write Blog Hop with me!

S'more Fun!!! DDS Outdoor Challenge

Okay, it's finally starting to feel like winter is behind us. Do you know what that means? It's time to get OUTSIDE and enjoy! I am working on another Outdoor Challenge project, but for now, you'll have to see this repeat project.

The Doodle Dragon Studios Design Team was inspired by this beautiful weather to have an Outdoors Challenge. Show us your outdoor creation (using a Doodle Dragon Studios image, of course!) in this week's challenge. Be sure to link it by Sunday, April 29th.

Have you tried the jumbo marshmallows? Oh my, they are so much fun! I must confess... (here we go again!) I have been known to cook jumbo marshmallows over my gas stove. It's delicious! I like to toast them golden brown, then pull off the toasted layer. I set it aside (to cool) and toast another layer. You can get about 4 layers out of 1 marshmallow. Mmmmm. Afterwards, your house smells yummy! And you don't smell like a campfire. BONUS!

DDS Challenge - Make Us Smile

Happy April! I realize for some of you, you may have already seen this funny bunny bait. I posted it early because I thought it might be fun for Easter, instead of waiting for our challenge. The question still stands... Is the bunny bait the carrots? Or the girl bunny?

Join the Doodle Dragon Studios challenge to make us laugh! There are plenty of funny Dustin Pike - Doodle Dragon Studios images to choose from. Post your project on to the challenge by Sunday, April 15th.

It's Never Too Late to Party!

Remember last week on Doodle Dragon Studios we had a challenge to "Bling It Up" a project. Well, I didn't get it done in time. In my mind, I saw (I can still see!) this perfect piece of Mardi Gras paper that I know I have. Apparently, I've put it in a "special" spot because I have search high and low for it! I kept thinking I was going to find somewhere in my collection. Nope. I couldn't finish the project without it. I was disappointed because I love this blinged up Mardi Gras dragon. Sadly, I set him aside.

This morning, I was cruising around the my usual favorite website stops. Party Time Tuesday is having a bling it up - anyway you want challenge! Yeah! My dragon was suddenly reawakened! I didn't find the original piece of paper I was looking for, but I decided this purple piece would work just fine. See... it's never too late to party! You can't get much more bling than a collection of Mardi Gras necklaces, rhinestones, and shiny Hershey Kisses. How you get your necklaces - is your choice. I, personally, just purchased mine from the store. Hee hee.

I must say I've only been to New Orleans once . I was pregnant at the time, with wild morning sickness (that lasted all day - all 9 months). The smells and flavors of the city put me waaaaaay over the top. I'm not sure if New Orleans was really given a fair shake. Maybe after I've checked off all the other places I want to travel, I'll circle back to it again.

Oh look, more chocolate! Does someone want to come help me eat all this?

Snowman

Ever had a project you just avoided getting around to, yet needed to ummm... yesterday? I'm having one of those days. I just can't seem to get into doing this project (big bulletin board) I was asked to do. I think it's because it's a more serious, not my usual genre project. I'm a more whimsy style and the project is a more Teresa Collins style. Does that make any sense? I can actually see the finished project in my mind, I just need to start. Right after...

I was surfing the web (to my defense, I was originally looking for idea for the project then was sidetracked) and found a this fun sketch challenge over at The Sweet Stop blog and decided to play along. Dustin Pike's - Doodle Dragon Studios birdie & snowman wanted to be made into something. So it was the perfect match!

Okay, now I'm really going to start on my real project. Wish me luck! Or maybe say a prayer would be more helpful!

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to...

Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday DUSTIN
Happy birthday to you!

In honor of our fabulous leader, Dustin Pike, the Doodle Dragon Studios Design Team decided to dedicate the our first challenge of the year to his greatness. It's his birthday on Wednesday! What better way to say "Happy birthday!" than to design a card with an image he created. If you love DDS like I do and want to wish Dustin a happy birthday, join the birthday party and make a card for him! Be sure to link your card on the challenge and leave some extra birthday wishes with a comment on the post. Here's the Birthday Party link.

I have been a Dustin Pike fan for years and years and years. I love the images he draws. They always make me smile and my day a little brighter. That's why it's so great be on his Design Team! I totally enjoy creating fun projects with his happy critters.

If you know Dustin, you know he LOVES Disneyland. He would live there if they would let him! In fact, that's where I first met Dustin, even though we only live an hour from each other. Rumor is that Ollie the Monkey is also one of his favorite Doodle Dragon Crew characters. So I knew for his birthday challenge I had to create a card with Disneyland and Ollie. Since it's Dustin's birthday he must wear a Happy Birthday button (if you've never been to Disneyland on your birthday, I highly suggest it!). And since Dustin trades Disney pins, Ollie had to have a trading pin lanyard too. Even though Dustin isn't in Disneyland THIS year for his birthday, I'm wishing him the Happiest Birthday ever! And I'm hoping he really IS turning 39...

I stand corrected... Dustin WAS in Disneyland for his birthday. His wife surprised him with a birthday trip to Disneyland. Lucky!

DDS Anything But A Card Challenge

Are you ready for another Doodle Dragon Studios Challenge? Are you ready for Christmas? Do you need a little break to do something crafty? Then join the Doodle Dragon Studios Design Team in an Anything But A Card Challenge. Be sure to link it before Sunday, December 25th (Merry Christmas!).

This project is dedicated to all those who are over having a "white Christmas" and are dreaming of "just another day in paradise." For the record, I'm first in line! I know it sounds funny that I'm not a snow fan, living in Utah with the greatest snow on earth, but it's true. Snow is pretty in the mountains and on Christmas Eve/Day. Other than that, it can stay high up in the mountains until I want to come visit it. When we lived in San Diego I didn't miss the snow a bit. Especially when I was Christmas shopping in my shorts!
